Hello Resident,

Here’s a quick round up from me and the rest of the Springfield neighbourhood policing team.

❓ What's been happening ❓

Warrant. We have executed a warrant under the misuse of drugs act at a business in Sparkhill this week. A vehicle was subsequently seized which was found to contain nitrous oxide and cannabis. Enquiries are ongoing!

Vehicle Seizures. Following feedback from our community and businesses, we seized a number of vehicles simultaneously on Formans Road this week - one had been without tax since 2018. We want to reassure the community this is not a one off operation and we will be continuing to conduct these through the coming weeks and months.

Cuppa with a Copper. PCSO Evans has been holding his drop in events at St Johns Church again on Monday and Wednesday this week. They are an opportunity to raise concerns, hear about some of the work taking place and have a cuppa in the warm! Please visit our website and keep an eye on our WMNOW updates over the coming weeks as they some of these events might not take place due to the festive period.

🚓 Street Watch Request 🚓

We have a fantastic Street Watch in the heart of Sparkhill where volunteers patrol the area with and without police support to highlight issues which are fed back to partner agencies. Great work has taken place over the years, and we are now looking to create further street watch groups across the ward, specifically in the Weston Lane and Swanshurst Lane areas. ✅ Crime Prevention Tips for the darker nights

Please don’t make it easy for criminals.

Most crime is opportunistic, and offenders are looking for the quickest, easiest target. Please take a few seconds to double checks your security routines.

Ensure your vehicle is locked with no valuables left on display – even a jacket or loose change can tempt a thief. Utilise extra security measures such as steering wheel locks.

For your home, create the illusion of occupancy by using timer switches. Also consider CCTV, outdoor lighting and anti-snap locks.
